Virginia Bennett Obituary

Virginia Mills Bennett

Virginia (Ginny) Mills Bennett, 76, passed away January 9, 2014 at Northwest Hospital. Born to Robert & Dorothy Mills of Springfield, OH, she was the oldest of four siblings, a natural leader and perpetual student, graduating with honors from both Springfield High and Wittenberg University. Education was key in her life and brought her to the UW where she taught while pursuing her masters. Upon completing graduate school, she began a distinguished career as Professor of Speech Communications at Shoreline Community College. Virginia met and married William Bennett who became happy parents to their two children, Susannah and Devin. As a family they were active in education, community, church and family. Her passion for education did not stop after retirement in 1990, when she visioned and created The Homework Factory, an innovative tutoring program for Ballinger Homes (King Co. Housing), for which she was awarded the Golden Apple for excellence in teaching that she so loved. Survivors include: a beloved daughter Susannah Bennett of Federal Way, WA; sisters, Martha Goliver of Elida, OH, Aggie Craycraft of Trenton, OH; and brother, Robert Mills of Spring, TX. Her son Devin Bennett preceded her in death in 1996.
