Samuel R. Nishitani

Samuel R. NISHITANI Samuel R. Nishitani, 87, died of natural causes Tuesday April 12, 2011, in Billings Montana. He was born in Seattle WA, January 22, 1924 to Kelly H. Nishitani and Pearl Du Bry and lived in the Seattle area until 2007 when he moved to Billings to be near his daughter. Sam married his high school sweetheart Edna MacLean on September 27, 1945. He was the third generation greenhouse-man to manage the family business founded in 1912, Oriental Gardens in the Lake City area of Seattle. He also was a boiler engineer for the old Public Health Hospital until his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish and was active in the Seattle Rifle and Pistol Association until his health began to decline. Sam was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edna and his brother James. Family remaining includes his two daughters: Ellen (John) Simons and Joan Anderson, grandchildren Sam, John, Angela and Lisa Simons; sisters-in-law Louisa Nishitani and Jessie Thomson, several Aunts, an Uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 10:00 am at Acacia Funeral Home in Seattle WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
