William Bauer Obituary

William Michael BAUER A one-of-a-kind man, strong, lov ing and caring, our Michael died Feb. 1 of complications following surgery. He lived life with gusto and a positive attitude on achiev ing dreams that was contagious. He held us all close in his tight cir cle of love. In his 58 years, Michael touched many hearts. He was our sound ing board, a natural storyteller and giver of bear hugs. He never met a stranger; always had a smile and a story to tell. His ec lectic interests ranged from books, gardens, music to ani mals; an avid reader, his exten sive knowledge kept us learning and growing. A jack-of-all- trades, we couldn't match his de termination and work ethic. Michael was the one to call for help/advice, to listen intently or offer encouragement. It's com forting to know that he's in heav en enjoying unlimited access to music, books, movies and the In ternet. Born 3/24/1952 in San Diego, CA, Michael lived in the Seattle area most of his life and briefly in Ha waii and California. A proud Ea gle Scout, he graduated from Na than Hale and the UW. His work career in retail and apartment management left a lasting mark on co-workers and customers. Michael recently was able to take early retirement to fulfill his life- long dream to live close to nature and the mountains. He so loved his 'paradise on earth,' the Swede Heaven 'ranch.' He leaves behind his mother and father, Mary and Bill Bauer, his life partner, Jeaneen Chapman, stepdaughters Erin Kansala, Maureen (Alan) Arnesen, grand children, Emily and Matthew, siblings Lynn (Bob) Wilmot, Sheila, Suzy (Chris) Dalgarn, Mark, nieces Breana and Maddy, nephews Dan, Matt, Josh, Kevin and Zach, cousins John (Carol) Bauer, Linda, and Lisa, many ex tended family members and hun dreds of friends. He will be sorely missed by his devoted four- legged companion, Angel. Michael will be missed more than words can ever say. Stories abound of his lasting effect on oth ers. It's our profound hope that our precious memories of his life will begin to fill the massive holes in our hearts. All those who loved Michael are invited to join in a celebration of his life, 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, First Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellevue Way N.E., Bellevue. In in lieu of flowers, donations re quested to Treehouse, 2100 24th Ave. S., Seattle 98144, or Seattle King County Humane Society, and/or bring pet food bags/cans to the memorial service for dona tion. I was sad to learn of Mike's untimely passing when I read the Seattle Times. Mike and I were buddies all through Jr. High and High School, and shared the same home room for three years. We took turns playing jokes on each other; one thing I could always count on was his smile. He was one of the people I hoped to re connect with him at our last reunion. I'm grateful to have known him in the early days. I'm sure he will be missed greatly.
My condolences to all.

Janeen,
I am so sorry about your loss. I was so shocked to hear about it.
Even more shocked, when I realized that I knew Michael. I went to High school with him at Nathan Hale and we graduated the same year. He and I both shared the same birth date too(March 24th, 1952). Please take care and hope to see you back at work when you are able.
