Melanie and Brian,
Your dad was a very good friend to my mother Winnie and I really enjoyed playing pinochle and joking around with him, as well. He was a true gentleman and a good man. I live on the East coast and seeing Ed whenever I came back to Seattle was always a highlight of my trip. I will miss him and will think of him often.

Melanie and Brian,
Your father was a good man. I never really interacted with him much in my teen years when I would come over to play with Rick, Reggie, Michael and you Brian but I did get to know him better in my adult years. He was a good friend to my father and after my father died stayed close to my mother and was a real comfort to her until her death last August. We were honored to have him speak at her funeral service. He will be missed by all of us.

Bren & Mel,

My thoughts are with you and your family - both chosen and birth - who knew Ed and who were touched by his life. I hope you have the comfort and support during the time you need it, and the courage to remember him through your stories, your cooking and your love.

It's clear he touched so many lives, and through you both he will continue to touch people.

I love you both,

Choir Boy

Mel, I'm sorry I never met Papa Ed, but I know his daughter. The chips don't fall far from the tree.
My first thought on seeing his picture is, "distinguished gentleman".
Bless your family.

Thank you for being our Papa. Beyond the obvious generosity, acceptance, love and grace you have always showed Tomme and I you were there for our children. In life we learn from those around us who walked before us and I could not think of a better elder, friend and papa for our children to learn from. We love you, we miss you and we will honor you and the gift of living that you have given us.

Ed was a wonderful friend to Charles and I....a 'forever' friend...he was there for us during our wedding to each other...We were friend for 30 plus years...he was a member of my family...backyard BBQ at both Ed's and my parents house...he and Preston came to see us in Chicago and also in New Orleans. After my beloved Charles died, I was in a state of Beyond grief. Ed was the friend that encouraged me to start going to "let's talk' at the senior center. Charles and I were fortune to share his life and I know they're playing pinochle and still talking about my 'bad' cooking.

Our condolences to his family and friends, and thank you for including us in this memorial. We are thankful for the having had Ed as our neighbor, friend, and family. We will miss his "Hi neighbor!" and his teasing about how we would hibernate through winter, leaving him to think that we moved back to Guam or Singapore. We will also miss the BBQ/gumbo gatherings and the family that he shared with us. Ed will truly be missed, but the impression he left on our lives will last forever. Love and blessing to all.
