Preston Colson Obituary

Preston S COLSON Preston Shaffer Colson was born on May 13, 1944 in Perquimans County, NC. He passed peacefully at home on March 19, 2011 in Sumner, WA, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by two loving daughters, Angela and Rachel, stepson Bryan, and grandson, David. He lived his early years in Virginia with his immediate family. He had the honor of serving as a deacon at Berean Chapel. In 1982, Preston's career as an engineer brought him and family to Seattle, where he worked at Lockheed and The Boeing Co. until his retirement. He enjoyed nature, music, and time with friends. He deeply loved the Lord. He recently joined El Shaddai Ministries in Puyallup - the congregation of friends he met there greatly enriched his life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to his favorite charities: Disabled American Veterans, American Cancer Society, or Samaritan's Purse. Services will be held at Curnow Funeral Home in Sumner on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 10:30 am, followed by a graveside service at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Papa was such a unique person gifted in many ways. He was very wise, and always quick to lend a helping hand. I will miss his words of wisdom. Knowing that he is with the Lord helps. I will be with him again someday. David and I loved him so.
