Jack was born in Pasco, Washington. His family moved to Seattle in 1924. Donna was born in Seattle. They both lived in the Green Lake neighborhood and met at grade school. They started dating in the eighth grade and married December 3, 1942. They celebrated 67 years of a loving marriage together. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940 and served in World War II being a Pearl Harbor survivor and the Korean War. He and Donna lived in Texas, Guam, Saipan, and California while in the service. He was medically retired in 1951 by which time they had three children.

After retirement they moved back to Seattle where Jack worked as a marine surveyor. They moved to Kent after they built a home there for their young family in 1954. After moving to Kent Jack became a general contractor. At this time Donna worked at Boeing in Panel Maintenance to help support their family. After retiring from Boeing in 1963 Donna worked with Jack in the office of their construction company. During this time Jack was very active in the community. He was a member of the Kent Rotary Club for 11 years and served four terms on the organization's executive board. He also served on committees for the Boy Scouts, Troop 406 and served as a lay person on a panel of judges for the South King County Juvenile Court. Donna was also active in the community being involved with the Kent Orthopedic Guild. They both were active in America Field Service. Jack and Donna hosted exchange students for Germany and Japan who came to know them as family.

The Stewarts moved to Grayland, Washington in 1972 and operated the State Liquor Agency in Westport until they retired. In their Retirement they traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe, Japan and China.

They are survived by their daughter Terri Tyler of Chehalis, Washington and sons Philip Stewart of Kenai, Alaska and Gregg Stewart of Portland, Oregon as well as three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
