I met Jim at the 'Wings Over Coshocton Airshow' years back when attending the pre show safety briefing as the Fire Rescue Incident Commander. It was hard to miss the reverence given to him by those in the room who knew this man. Jim had a smile on his face that lit the room and cut through the seriousness yet his words held the most weight in confirming all components of the show were tick tock. At the end of the briefing he said to the pilots and Admins..."Safety is #1, but lets have alot of fun doing #1..!" Leaving the room i asked Jim about his aircraft and he invited myself and the entire Rescue crew to escort him to the hangar to take a look as his aircraft. Smiling and joking around he was thorough in showing us everything we could ever possibly need to know about how the Plane was build and functioned to include our points of most interest being where and hows of Cockpit release and dump, Fuel shut offs and Harness release. I was so impressed as Jim made us all feel at ease in knowing he had our best interests in mind also as we assumed our duties in ready runway standby to enjoy the show. I wish the entire Family and community the kind of Peace that Jim seemed to exude.

Jim flew in the Watertown SD "Airshow 2000" in his Chipmunk. He did a somersault in mid air which was truly amazing. I will alsways remember him for his professional approach to aviation. May he rest in peace and look over us from above!
