Lenore Margaret (Hooper) Williams, 95, died January 12th, 2014 at Horizon House, Seattle, after several health challenges over the past few months.

She was born in Renton Oct. 3, 1918 and grew up near Port Angeles, WA. Her husband of 54 years, Ralph G. "Bud" Williams, her parents, Archie J. and Marguerite (Mutch) Hooper, and brother George Robert Hooper predeceased her.

She is survived by her two sons, John and his wife Ann, and Robert "Bob" and his wife, Shirley; John's daughters: Melinda Reiss (husband Mark) and Nicole Vanoni (husband Vic); Bob's children: Eric Williams (wife Sandra), Lisa Wagner, Andrew Williams, and Jeffrey Thomas; great-grandchildren Alexandra Reiss, Adrian and Jacquelin Vanoni, Ryan and Matthew Wagner, Nicholas, Olivia and Isabel Williams; niece Peggy Williams Rasmussen, and nephews Paul Williams, Gordon Hansen, Norman Hansen (wife Linn) and Warren Hansen (wife Ann) and their children.

Lenore graduated from Dry Creek Elementary, Port Angeles High School, and the University of Washington School of Nursing, Class of 1940, as a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a member of Sigma Tau Alpha, Alpha Delta Pi, and Alpha Tau Delta.

In 1942 she married Ralph G. "Bud" Williams after Bud earned his commission as a Naval Officer (also UW Class of 1940). Navy life included assignments during WWII in the Pacific, then Newport RI and Long Beach CA during the Korean War. The family lived in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, Lakewood near Tacoma, and for many years in View Ridge, Seattle, where Lenore was an avid gardener.

Lenore's nursing career included support of the University of Washington Health Services complex, surgery at Harborview Medical Center and two private practices led by Dr. Goss and Dr. Danishek.

She and her husband were active Rotarians. In addition to travel with Rotary, they also organized many reunions for Bud's Navy shipmates on the USS Halford, and enjoyed travel abroad with their friends. They were members of the Sandpoint Country Club and active in alumni activities at the UW. Lenore was a very active volunteer at University Presbyterian Church, where she was a member. At Horizon House she was secretary of the Food Committee and coordinated the monthly birthday celebrations. Until recent months, she could be found every afternoon outside Horizon House talking with dog owners and petting their dogs, dog breed identification book from granddaughter Nikki in her lap.

Lenore's positive outlook and friendly smile will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held at University Presbyterian Church, April 7.
