Rebecca Goll Obituary

Rebecca Lynn Goll, DMD, MSD

Rebecca Lynn Goll passed away on January 14, 2015 after a long struggle with a degenerative neurological condition. She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, George, her three children, Amanda, Emily and Spencer, her sister, Pam Sansone, and also nieces and nephews Joey, Christina, Andrew and Rachel Laskowski. Rebecca was born in Dixon, Illinois in 1951 to Everett and Zelma Price. She studied dentistry at the University of Pennsylvania and after graduating OKU in 1976, went on to serve as a captain in the U.S. Air Force for three years at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. From there she attended the University of Washington and received her Masters' Degree in Endodontics and where she met her husband, fellow dentist George Goll. At the time of her graduation in 1981, she was only the second female to receive a Masters' Degree in Endodontics from the UW. While she loved and thrived at research, she left private practice shortly after the birth of her son and went on to pursue more creative endeavors.

Rebecca had a deep love for music and sang in the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church Choir for over 25 years. She played the piano very ably and also took up the violin later in life. She was often found rocking out to 60s classics in her car. Later in her life, Rebecca nurtured her passion for the creative arts and began writing short stories and poetry. She took numerous classes in writing and literature and enjoyed sharing her work with her friends and family. She was an excellent cook, skier and tennis player and loved to travel and read whatever she could get her hands on. Rebecca possessed a beautiful wit and positive nature. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family. Her wonderful spirit, joy and talents will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 4805 NE 45th St, Seattle, Wa 98105 on Saturday, January 24th at 1:00 pm. The family encourages all who knew and loved her to attend.

Not sure what to say?

I just saw the memoriam to Rebecca in the Penn Dental Journal. I am sad. We kept in infrequent touch. Yet, I remember her fondly as she was such a help to me in dental school. I am grateful for her kindness and encouragement.

I was very sad to learn of the passing of Rebecca, my classmate and friend while we were students in the UW Endodontics Program. She was the one who kept things light, with a smile, an encouraging word and a helping hand when we needed it. I had lunch with Rebecca 4 years ago and despite her illness, she was still her pleasant and smiling self. She will be missed by all. Our deepest sympathy, our thoughts and prayers will be with George, their family and the friends who loved her dearly.

Rebecca was my mentor and my friend. We were very close. As we left school, got married, had children and started practicing it was hard to connect. Both Michael and I send our love and hugs to the whole family. We are both very sad. May your hearts be filled with happy memories.
