Rest in Peace Uncle Shorty

To Al's Family and Friends,

Please accept my deepest sympathies with regards to Al's recent death. Even though I don't know Al's family personally, I just want to share a few words with you. I played handball with Al from time to time on Saturday mornings at the MAC and LA Fitness. Al was always a real gentleman on and off the court. Like all of us handball players, Al loved the game. I will always remember being greeted by Al with that big smile on his face and some kind words to share. He was a wonderful guy and we will surley miss him. But we will always remember him. I wish each of you peace and comfort at this difficult time. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about Al's passing. He was a great guy and a great competor. I really enjoyed our years at the MAC. I am living in Eastern Washington now and will not be able to attend the service but will say a prayer for him and his family.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Al's family, especially Austin. I used to play handball quite a bit on weekend mornings with Al up at the MAC when Austin and my two boys were young. Al and I would battle it out on the court, while Austin and my sons Craig and Dan would mess around on an open handball court, then move on to the ubiquitous doughnuts that George always had out for the kids. These are very fond memories of Al and Austin that I and my boys will always cherish. Al was a worthy, gritty opponent on the court, and a generous and gracious man off of it. I last saw him at George Stathakes' memorial party a couple of years ago, and we had a really pleasant conversation about our sons, our lives, and life in general. I had no idea he was ill, so this is very shocking news to me. I am really saddened at his passing, and already miss him greatly.
