My name is Janet Stuebing and I Albertas cousin. As a child Alberta was closer to my siblings than me because they were closer in age, but as adults Alberta and I were very close. We shared a love for teaching and spent many hours discussing ways to help students. She was a great mentor! We also shared our love for Jesus and prayed for each other regularly. I look forward to seeing her in eternity. Until then, I will continue to recall all those great memories we shared together.

A friend, classmate and true glory to God. Alberta was my first memory of High School. I had not seen this angel in Pendleton before and couldn't belive I had missed her. She became a wonderful friend and was accepted into her family and treated as a blood relative. I always enjoyed stoppong in to visit her mother at the shop when I visited Pendleton. I pray the rest of the family continue to take care of her mother as Alberta did.
Sincere love, adoration and respect for a person that will be missed until we can be reunited in Heaven. Michael Key

I was very blessed to have met Alberta over 18 years ago at Central Washington University. She was not only my professor and mentor, but a very dear friend that I will always remember. I am very honored to have spent the last months of her life with her. She fought with dignity. She was a remarkable woman who made an impact on so many through her life. I urge those of you who knew Alberta, to follow her lead and live your life for others and never miss those opportunities around you. Goodbye dear friend.

My professor, my friend, my inspiration to be the best I can be; as a student, a teacher, a specialist in ASD...my own family drama took me far away from someone who had appreciated me for me and my abilities (as she did for many, I am sure)
I am sad that I was not there for her and her mother and her three wee ones... I hope that her pups and her mother are well taken care of, they were such an important part of her life.
To all that met her, knew her and loved her as much or more than I, may you cherish the peace that will come with time and know that her physical pains of this world are now gone and the angel that she is/was, is dwelling in a better place.
It is in our memories that Alberta Thyfault will live on forever.

While living in Pendleton, Oregon, Ms. Thyfault was my special education
teacher. She was such a great teacher. She understood my problems and had
such a positive effect on my life. After I moved , we remained friends and she visited me many times. She was a very important person in my life. Here are some pictures I have saved...
The picture of her and I is included in the book that my Mom wrote about my
education.. The captioning says "some teachers are friends"...And she was one of the best teachers and a friend.
Sincerely,
Eugene Cruz

I was Alberta's student just this past year. I was touched by her dedication to her students and the field of special education. She was a wonderful woman and a pleasure to be around and to learn from! We had an early 8am class and she brought us coffee and doughnuts every day! I am so very glad that I knew her.

We were so sad to hear of Dr Thyfault's death. She was a wonderful classmate at Pendleton High School. May she rest in peace.

I met Alberta at Hawthorne Grade School and graduated Pendleton High School with her. Though we lost touch after that, it's no surprise she's been outstanding in her chosen profession. She was always a very focused person.

I had the opportunity to take classes taught by Dr. Thyfault as both an undergraduate and a graduate student. I have strong memories of all of those classes and the lessons learned from her and I attribute this to her passion for the field. She has impacted the lives of thousands upon thousands of students with disabilities and has left a some impossible shoes to fill.

I have known Alberta for many years and was honored to serve on her doctoral dissertation committee. How much she contributed to the field of special education! She was someone to look up to, emulate, and love. I did all three. I miss you and your love for people.

I am Alberta's cousin. I too became a teacher and Alberta was my mentor and guide. I always said that if I could be half the teacher Alberta is then I will be a great teacher. Alberta, I miss you and look forward to the day when we will see each other again in heaven. Aunt Donna, I am praying for you and your family to have God's comfort and peace.
