Alice Bradley Obituary

Alice T. BRADLEY Alice was born in Roundup, Montana on July 2 1938 to William and Margaret Milne. Her Dad moved the family to W. Seattle to work for Boeing in 1942. Alice attended Holy Family, Holy Names Academy and Compton College in Calif. She married William Bradley in 1958 and had four children while living in Whittier Calif. At age 30 she was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Scleroderma and told she would live 2 to 5 years. She moved with her children back to Seattle in 1971 to be with her parents. Alice lived for 42 more years, longer than anyone else in the U.S. with this disease. She became a licensed counselor and started a Scleroderma Support Group and also gave seminars at the UW Med Center to help doctors with diagnosis. She passed away on January 28, 2011. Survived by her brother Jim, her sister Mary, and children Jennifer, (Grandsons Bradley and Grant), Bill, Jeff, his wife Shelley (Grandsons Wyatt and Garrett), and Jackie. Alice loved live theatre and volunteered at Arts West in W. Seattle. She was a wonderful ballroom dancer, and often said that without dancing she could not live. She danced her last dance on December 28. Alice was a joy to all and, truly one of a kind. She will be in our hearts forever. Memorial to be at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 3401 SW Myrtle St. in West Seattle on Saturday Feb. 19th at 10:30 am. Donations to Medic One please.

To The Entire Bradley Family,

My heart and prayers go out to you all during this difficult time. I knew your Mom as I am an alumni of OLG & JFK. The last time I saw your Mom was at this jazz place in Renton about 15 years ago, she came up to me and said "You are a Cano huh?" I was touched by your mother's beauty and her ability to dance. She stayed on that dance floor all night long....Her thirst for life and kindness resonated from her energy and love of life.

To the Bradely kids, know that when you miss her, look at yourself in the mirror as she is and always be looking over all of you.

God Bless You All!

Alice waltzed into my life in 2000 as my patient. For three years I knew a woman who was a proud mother and grandmother. She loved her adventures with her girlfriends from childhood, pretending they were "starlets". Pilgrimages to warmer places. Her annual Christmas Eve party. Her joy of dance, on foot and in life! She loved her red hair and a good handbag. Her infectious laugh resides in my heart. For 3yrs, I knew a woman who changed the room when she walked in. Not until I was diagnosed w/Scleroderma did we ever talk about her disease. I then learned how to live from my friend. She dedicated herself from 1991 to patients & families tirelessly as she put it "so they would never have to hear what her family heard in 1963". She was the rock & the foundation for the healing of many from the genesis of the ECSF...a leader, a teacher, a bright & joyous spirit, and this shall continue on as she has taught us well. Her family has been so generous in sharing Alice with us. Grant, Brad, Garrett, Wyatt - her bliss. I will miss so much about my friend. She has changed my life. I will always smile when I see a tiara, a feather boa, or a lovely pump.
Bill, Jeff, Shelley, Jennifer, Jackie - I am so very sorry for your loss. There just are no words.... Thank you for being such incredible souls, for it is you who gave us a lifetime of Alice.... You were her breath in life and she loved it so well.

Jan 8, 11 - Busy helping others ....

I am so very sorry for the incredible loss of your mother. I remember probably the first time I met Alice and she spoke of her illness....her goal was to live long enough to see Jackie graduate from high school. How much more she saw and lived for!! My family came from Roundup and is it not amazing the connections we find throughout life. Everyone will forever remember her wonderful smile, laugh and joy of life. No mother could have loved and enjoed her family more. My heart goes out to all of you
