Bettye Gyle (Sudduth) GUILLORY Bettye Guillory, 99 passed on Monday. She was born to the late Charles and Dora Sudduth on August 23, 1912 in Topeka, KS; she was one of nine children. Bettye was a graduate of The Madam CJ Walker School of Beauty in 1946 and was the first African American woman appointed to the Washington State Board of Cosmetology Examiners. Bettye has been a member of Northwest Church in Federal Way, WA where she lived since 1982. In her younger years she was very active in the church where she taught four and five year olds. Bettye is survived by her three children; Nesbia Lopes, John Guillory and Paquita Guillory-Wheeler.She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to the Bettye Guillory. A viewing will be held this Thursday from 11 am to 5 pm at Washington Memorial Park in SeaTac.
