Bonnie Jean Barnowe

Passed away peacefully on her 95th birthday at home on June 2nd. She was born in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1917. Graduated from Morningside College in 1939 and attained her Masters in Education at University of Washington in 1942. Taught languages at high school level. Married to Theodore J. Barnowe, UW Professor, who died in 1971. They had 6 children and lived in the Seattle area, spending much leisure time in the outdoors. Bonnie was known for her sweet smile, adventurous spirit, unflappable nature, love and acceptance of everyone,and mystical spirituality.She is survived by her children: Barbara J. Lutz (Herlwyn, dec), J Thad Barnowe (Joan), Kathryn L. Leptich (Dave), Christine A. Hamilton (Tom), Rebecca M. Barnowe, Marilyn F. Barnowe-Meyer (Steven), her sister, Lois Batts (Bill), 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. A Celebration of her life will be held on July 21st at American Legion Post Hall, 14521-17th NE, Shoreline from 11am to 3pm. In lieu of flowers remembrances can be made to PBS Channel 9 or any organization for injured Veterans.
