Connie Louise Nelson

Connie Louise Nelson (Leen) was born July 6, 1949 in Auburn, Washington, the second child of Derald and Lucile Leen. She passed away October 18, 2012, surrounded by family, after a courageous 10 month battle with pancreatic cancer. Connie lived her entire life in Auburn. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1967, and began work at Boeing where she met the love of her life, Jim Nelson, 2 years later. They were married in 1970 and raised 3 children together. In 1985, Connie began a 25 year career at Federal Way Vision Center in Federal Way, WA. She retired in December, 2009. Connie enjoyed traveling with Jim and visiting family and friends. She also was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was the kindest and most thoughtful and beautiful person in the world. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father Derald Leen. She is survived by her loving husband, Jim, of Auburn, daughter Shelly Zimmermann (Kurt) of Gig Harbor, son Jim Nelson of Sacramento, CA, son Bryan Nelson (Kristin) of Auburn, mother Lucile Leen of Auburn, sisters Jeanne Coffey of Auburn and Barbara Leen of Seattle, 7 grandchildren and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A recitation of the Rosary will be Friday, October 26th at 7 PM at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Federal Way, WA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 27th at 11 AM, also at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, followed by reception.
