Deloris Ann Buechner "Dee" Berg

Deloris Berg Obituary

Dee A. BERG Deloris Ann Buechner Berg was born in St. Paul, MN on Dec. 1, 1919 to parents of German and French heritage. One of the oldest of 12 children, Dee learned early about taking care of siblings and being a leader. She married Alvin Donald Berg on Feb. 2, 1940 and they started their own family. The family moved to Mercer Island and then to Magnolia where Dee and Al raised the boys. She made sure the boys attended Sunday school at the Lutheran Church. In the late 1960's, Dee and a friend started B & W Draperies. Dee often volunteered her time for the American Cancer Society, Ryther Childrens Center or the Senior Centers in West Seattle or Edmonds and instilled a sense of what its like to be a volunteer in each of her sons. Dee lived on her own in Edmonds before realizing that she needed more help and moved to an assisted living facility in 2006. Last August she moved again to the Royal Family Home. Dee died with son Jerry at her side on Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 at the age of 91. Dee is survived by sons Jerry, Tom and David, grandchildren Scott, Dean, Eric, Shawna and Chris, and great-grandchildren Garrett, Wyatt and Madeline. Her family in the mid-west includes 12 brothers and sisters and literally dozens of nieces and nephews. Service at Edmonds Lutheran, 23525 84th Ave W., 98026 2pm Sun. Feb. 27. www.caringbridge.org/visit/delorisberg.

Dee was a wonderful inspiration for women and the human race. She was always doing something for someone and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have very fond memories of her and wish that we had kept in closer touch over the years.

Not having known Dee I can only judge her by the work she put in her children, specifically her son Jerry Berg, who left no stone untrurned when it came to looking after his mother's interests. Jerry sacrificed his life and time to be at her side. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Dee leaves us all a fine legacy in her children who will surely continue her legacy. Rajiv Nagaich.
