Dianne Balderston Saffle|
Dianne passed away peacefully on November 7, 2012. Dianne was a graduate of Ballard High School, Peterson Business School, and attended classes at University of Washington. She was an officer and director for various corporations owned by B.F. Shearer, who had offices in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Whittier, and Los Angeles.
She was also active coordinating golf tournaments in the Palm Springs area for many years. She later worked for the Chairman of KeyBank in Seattle.
She was a member of Edmonds Floretum Garden Club and served as an officer for a term. She loved gardening, her roses, and anything green. She also loved animals-cats, dogs, birds, etc.-- she fed them all. Her major interest was cooking and she earned diplomas from schools in Canada that taught chefs.
She continued taking classes throughout her life, including current issues classes in Edmonds, which she later taught for 2 years.
She is survived by her husband, Bud (Maurice William) Saffle, as well as her 3 children: Dr. Dale R. Peterson (Kelly) of Manson, WA; DeLainna McKenney (David) of Sammamish, WA; Donald E. Peterson (Diane) of Kingston, WA; and 2 stepsons: Timothy (Sue) Saffle of Port Orchard, WA and Dean Saffle (Marilyn) of Tacoma, WA. She was also survived by 8 grandchildren: Faye, Ryan, Rosie, Joshua, Tyler, Jack, Carly, and Christopher. She is also survived by her half-brother, Larry Thornton (Minnie) of Forks, WA. She was preceeded in death by her sister, Pearl Beavert.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army, PAWS in Lynnwood, WA, or Adix's Bed and Bath for Dogs and Cats in Edmonds, WA.
A Memorial Service will be at 5:00 p.m., Fri., Nov. 30 at Beck's Garden Chapel, 405 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds, WA, followed by a Reception at Edmonds Senior Center, 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds, WA.
