Mrs Puzzo and family, I am so sorry for your loss. It was a pleasure to meet you and Tom at your husband’s funeral mass on Saturday. While I was in the YOKO unit, at Bremerton, he was my Commanding Officer, his smile and self-assurance impressed me and left a lasting impression.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. Like the other Florentines, I was so glad Nick and Anne-Marie were able to attend the Spokane reunion. We were able to share our memories once more, and I was able to spend some time with my favorite hitchhiking partner. Life-changing though that year was for all of us, I think Nick got more out of it than any one--he met his dearest Anne-Marie. May his memory live in all our hearts.

Anne-Marie and family,

My deepest sympathy.

I have been blessed to have known Nick and to be his Commanding Officer thru many years of faithful service. Every time I got a new command, I sought out Nick to be one of my officers in my unit, as I knew that he was there for our unit officers and enlisted with his smile and take charge in a quiet and professional manner and take charge attitude.

I last saw Nick when we went to one of our Chief's memorial service and shared memories together. I had the blessing to be one of the last of our unit members talk to him and THANK HIM for his service to me and the NSD YOKO unit.

I told him the story of one of my students at the War College, CDR Charlie Plumb, a POW for 6 years, who bailed out over Viet Nam, who when he met the young man that packed his parachute he realized that he had never thanked the young sailor. He reminded us "to THANK those that packed their parachute.." I was able to THANK Nick for packing MY parachute.

I served with Captain Puzzo in a supply unit late in my naval career. Captain Puzzo was the ultimate in class, intelligence and leadership. My deepest sympathies to his wife and family.

It seems such a short time ago that AnneMarie and I went to Perugia. My main goal was to study, for AnneMarie vacation. In my Dante-class was this very nice American guy. Cupido did her work, for both of us. I met my great love the same year in Siena. The 4 of us remained good friends all those years since 1964. Several times we visited Seattle, and had wonderful times together. One of the highlights was our stay in the lodge of Mount Ranier Nt.Park.a few years ago. It was like paradise. We cherish our memories. Nick was such a nice guy, we will miss him. Love and strength for AnneMarie, Thomas and Marc and their families, the siblings of Nick and AnneMarie.

Dear AnneMarie, Thomas and Marco, I am so sorry for the passing of Nick. I have great memories, especially those including Camping, Pancakes and the Studebaker. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sebastian, Rainer and I will light a few candles, in his memory, at Our Lady Of Grace. Yes my boys know of Nick by virtue of my stories of our chants in the back seat of the Studebaker. And yes my boys know the chant as well.
Take Care, love

Dear Anne Marie it was so wonderful to see both you and Nick atthe Gonzaga Reunions and to visit you and the boys when I was working for Legal Services.
Nick was one day older than I am and he never let me forget he was older and wiser. We once thumed from London to Ireland and got seperated in Chester. He got a ride while I was in the john and off he went. I caught up with him in Ireland...When he was in OCS in Newport he spent weekends at my mother's house sleeping. We were always rushing him back to the base at the last minute. He was determined to go back and marry Anne Maire. In that resolve he was firm, and they had a wonderful relationship....Nick we shall all miss you and smile when we think of your great laugh

My thoughts and prayers first are expressed to AnneMarie and family. I am so sorry of Nick's passing. I wanted to share some of my fond memories of Nick. I met Nick in June 1989 when he interviewed me and then hired me at the Office of Administrative Hearings in Seattle. I worked for Nick for 15 years. I can attribute my 20 year retirement from the State of Washington to him, Thank-you Nick! I respected him and believe I worked very well with Nick. Why he was MY BOSS! We did have some good laughs together. I also remember my 1st and only trip to Europe in 1993, Nick helped me lay out my trip, as I was meeting my son in Belgium while he was in Austria going to school. God bless and keep you Nick, rest in peace. You will be missed by so many.

While I join the others in expressing sorrow at our early loss of Nick, I also celebrate all the enthusiasm, vigor, joy, humor, and caring he brought to those of us fortunate enough to share part of his life. Nick was a superb shipmate for many years in the Naval Reserve; he led by example, and inspired his subordinates to excellence. He took a sincere interest in people, and cared about their lives. These attributes, coupled with his powerful mind, made Nick an exceptional Administrative Law Judge—one whose rulings were wise and fair. He loved life, had many interests, and lived fully. Blessings to Anne-Marie and family.

We feel especially blessed to have enjoyed Nick's and Anne-Marie's company at the Florence reunion dinner in 2009. We send Anne Marie and family our deepest sympathy for your loss; and yet celebrate Nick's life well lived, and the welcome God must be giving him now. What a wonderful, caring man was Nick. He will live in your sweetest memories and dwell in your hearts. Gods blessings be on you, Diane DeFelice and Dave Nelson

Please accept my sincerest sympathy to Anne-Marie, Marc and family at this time of great personal loss. I was fortunate to know CAPT Puzzo while serving as a junior officer in the late 1980's. He was a fine officer and a mentor to all who knew him. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
