Donald Volkman Obituary

Donald (Don) VOLKMAN Don Volkman, 73, of Bellevue, WA, died peacefully on March 10 at home in the company of his wife, Sandra (Brown), son, Steven Volkman, daughter, Karen Volkman, her husband, Steve Smith, and his two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. He was born to Paul and Enid Volkman in Yakima on September 22, 1937. Don was raised in and graduated from high school in Wapato in 1955. He attended Eastern Washington University and graduated from the University of Washington School of Pharmacy in 1961. Don and Sandra married on January 11, 1969 and moved to Bellevue that same year. Throughout his career as a pharmacist, Don worked for Thrifty Drugs in Richland and Pasco, Pay 'n Save, Madison Park Pharmacy as well as many Safeway stores throughout western Washington. He retired from pharmacy in 2007, and he and Sandra traveled around the country for several months. Don loved to travel, having visited Africa, Mexico and much of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, fishing, movies (popcorn), telling jokes, gardening and family activities. He was most fond of his time spent in his recliner with both dogs on his lap. Don and Sandra have been very active in Cross of Christ Lutheran Church for many, many years. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 411 156th Avenue NE, Bellevue, 425-746-7300. Don is also survived by his older brother, Paul Volkman, sister-in-law, Patricia Volkman and one granddaughter, Kalea Volkman. Memorials can be sent to Garden of Remembrance at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church or to Northwest Kidney Center.
