Dorothea Marshall Obituary

Dorothea MARSHALL 9-26-28 ~ 5-5-11 Dorothea survived pancreatic can cer for over 3 years, passing peace fully on May 5 at 4 in the afternoon. She is survived by husband Jim of 60 plus years; children, Eileen, Sharon, Susie and JK, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dorothea attended Holy Names Academy from the first grade through the eighth grade. She also attended Roosevelt and Garfield High Schools. She graduated from the University of Washington, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Later she obtained a second degree from the UW in Interior Design. She was a longtime resident of Broadmoor and member of the Seat tle Tennis Club. She was also a mem ber of the Juanita Graham Unit of the Arboretum Foundation. She was also on the board of the University Of Washington School Of Dance. And she was an allied member of the Ameri can Society of Interior Designers. Dorothea was very devoted to fit ness. She was an accomplished ten nis player, golfer (past champion of Green Lake Pitch and Putt), swim mer and triathlete. And she walked with Jim forever. Special thanks to Dr. Philip Gold and Alice Albright at the Swedish Cancer Institute; Dr. Vincent Picozzi at the Virginia Mason Cancer Institute; and Dr. Karen James, primary care physician. We are also grateful to all the wonderful nurses who cared for Dorothea over the past 3 years. And special thanks to the staff on the 15th floor of Virginia Mason Hospital for this past week. There will be a mass for family at St. Ignatius Chapel. A gathering of friends and family will be held later in May.
