Dorothy Blackstone Obituary

Born in Pueblo, Colorado Aug. 5th 1937 died Feb. 25th 2011. Dorothy is survived by her children, William, Jon and Amber, as well as 4 grandchildren Ethan Jon, Julian Ray, Isabella Jean Blackstone and Sarah Anne Kennedy English. Dorothy was married to Sgt. Robert Lee Blackstone, who received a Purple Heart in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Robert preceded Dorothy in death, June 17, 1990. Dorothy will be remembered for the immense love of her children and grandchildren, good jazz, English gardens, travelling the British Isles as well as other wonderful destinations with friends and family, and most of all, for her terrific sense of humor and fun. She will be dearly missed.

Mrs.Blackstone is easy to love....just like her daughter Amber. I hope I'll get to join up with her someday at The Heavenly Banquet. Enjoy your well deserved mighty nap, Dorothy. I know you were looking forward to it. You'll be very missed.

Dorothy was my best friend for 41 years. She was a wonderful person and I feel blessed to have had her in my life. Our families took many vacations together. I will never forget those times. Dorothy had such a fantastic sense of humor, eyes would water and stomach hurt from laughing so much. She truly was a woman after God's own heart. I saw her the Sunday before and we prayed together and she said that she wasn't afraid. She was looking forward to being in her heavenly home with Jesus.

I'll always remember Dorothy's giggle. She was always ready to laugh and joke about events of the day, or mishaps from the past. She always seemed to be in a good mood. We have so many great memories growing up with the Blackstone kids, and Bob and Dorothy going on Family vacations to Ocean Shores and to Canada. Dorothy always had a joke or an observation that cracked everyone up! She will be missed, God rest her soul.

Thank you to everyone who writes on this guestbook, it means a great deal to Bill, Amber and myself. What can I say in a few words about my mom? She was a deeply caring and spiritual person. That's what made her such an appealing personality. If you were a friend of mom's, you were a friend for life. She had a wonderful disarming way about her that invited you to want to talk with her. She cared about people deeply. She always wanted to know how people were "doing" in life. She loved people very much and made an impact on people wherever she went. I know that she will be remembered fondly by so many. My heart is broken, but I am comforted by her profound faith in God and know she is with him now...

She WAS one-in-a-million. Soft-spoken, humble, filled with humility and great conversationalist. I remember when Amber was little and taking piano lessons from me - Dorothy took a picture of our beautiful tree in blossom - in our front yard. Gardening! She loved nature. And I loved her and will remember her always. Her legacy is surely the three great children she and Bob raised. Love, Auntie ReRe :)

I will never forget that sweet voice of hers... And her sense of humor has had me laughing until it hurts for so many wonderful years.
