Edward (Ed) M. Gray|
Ed Gray, age 71, passed on January 4th at his home in Snohomish, WA. No service is planned, per his wish. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwest Kidney Centers, PO Box 3035, Seattle, WA 98114.
He was born in Denver, Colorado, graduated from Cathedral High School and Colorado State College in education. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He taught for a total of 37 years including several years in Jefferson County, Colorado near Denver. In 1966 he moved to the Seattle area where he taught in Northshore School District, teaching elementary school and in the library program. In 1974, he was elected President of the Northshore Education Association. After completing his Masters Degree at the University of Washington, he served for 19 years as the librarian at Canyon Park Junior High. In 1993, Ed became the Supervisor of Instructional Materials and Library Services for the District. He retired from teaching in 1996. After retirement he became an instructor in the graduate program for school librarians at the University of Washington. In 1982 he married his wife Chris. After they both retired from teaching, they became involved in many projects and causes, including showing classic Lincoln automobiles, politics, senior and homeless services.
The last five years, Ed suffered from End Stage Renal Disease but had what he described as 5.5 bonus years due to dialysis. He is survived by his wife Chris, his brother Jim (San Jose, CA) and many extended family members.
