Eleanor Biddle "Rigby" Wagner

Eleanor Wagner Obituary

Eleanor "Rigby" Biddle WAGNER Our most beloved Rigby gently left us on March 24th, 2011. The youngest of eight children, she was born on September 8, 1966 to Arthur Sheehan Biddle and Eleanor Hazen Biddle. A happy caring childhood delivered to us a wonderful person full of joy, giving and compassion. As a Mateo Ricci graduate of Seattle Prep and Seattle University, she earned a bachelor of arts degree in Theater Administration. Spending her entire career in the non-profit field, she worked at many organizations including Junior Achievement, The Museum of Flight, the Medic One Foundation, the YWCA and, most memorably for her, The Group Theater. Her exceptional courage and indomitable spirit in the face of her ten year battle with atypical meningioma brain tumors was truly remarkable and inspirational to all who knew and loved her. This difficult challenge only seemed to strengthen her love for life and for others, and her gratitude for the medical professionals who were so deeply committed to assisting her in her fight against her illness. Rigby's interests were vast and included writing short stories and poems, reading, walking marathons, travelling, puzzling, attending theater, promoting social justice and peace, creating wonderful, lasting symbols of treasured memories for her family and friends, and, of course, all things pigs. She loved attending Shoreline Universalist Unitarian Church where she was an active member of the congregation and where she was married in a beautiful ceremony on June 13, 2009. Rigby was preceded in death by her grandparents Ronald and Florence Hazen and Arthur and Helene Biddle, and her loving parents Arthur and Eleanor. She is survived by her husband Joel Rohan Wagner, seven siblings: Nora Elaine, John Hazen, Lauren Elise, Shaun Susan, Sarah Beth, Karen Daisy, and Amanda Marie, her birth son Daniel, her many nieces, nephews, extended family and a multitude of dear, dear friends. We will all miss her and always remember her for the extraordinary, gentle and genuine person she was. Donations in Rigby's memory may be made to Doctors Without Borders. Services to be held on SundayMay 8th, 3:00 p.m. at Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Church, 14724 1st Ave. NE, Shoreline, WA 98155. Onsite reception to follow.

Oh how I missed out on knowing Rigby better. She was an absolute optimist as I saw it. Her memorial will be one of the most memorable just as she and Joel's wedding. Some people have it all.

Missing our dear, sweet, daffy, incredibly hardworking, loving and brave Rigby. I've never known anyone who so embodied the phrase "force of nature" and who so tirelessly promoted love, justice and understanding in all circumstances. I was blessed with her friendship for 18 years, and I'll be blessed with her memory all my life. Peace to you, my friend.
