Erma L. Swift|
Erma L. Chapman Swift, 95, Des Moines, WA passed away peacefully at home on January 24, 2013.
Erma was born November 19, 1917 in Faribault, Minnesota to John and Lucy Smith Chapman. She was the oldest of 8 children.
She married Wayne Nietula in 1936 and had four children. They moved to Seattle in 1950 where they both worked at the Boeing Company. They divorced after 21 years of marriage and she later married Lowell Swift.
Erma had a long and productive life. She was a life-long learner, an avid reader, and an inspiration to many. She loved writing cards and letters to family members and friends. She will live on through the many people whose lives she touched in so many different ways.
She was able to express herself through her beautiful oil paintings and crafts. Her oil paintings are in the possession of many family members and friends. She had a strong interest in genealogy and was a charter member and past president of the South King County Genealogical Society.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, daughter Linda Rockafield; sons Gary and David Nietula, three brothers and four sisters.
Erma is survived by her daughter Lucy Nietula, stepson Bert Neal Swift and his family; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.
There will be no services at her request.
