Frances LePley Obituary

Frances LePLEY Frances Irene (Whalen) LePley, born October 10, 1925, to Patrick L. and Ermon E. (Stacy) Whalen. Died April 25, 2011. Predeceased by siblings Katherine, Patrick, Eugene, and Margaret. Survived by son Patrick H. LePley (Carol), daughter Sheila J. Harrison (Bruce), grandchildren Elizabeth LePley (Jason), Matthew LePley, Susan Bowman (Scott), Mark Harrison, Julia Harrison, sister Kathleen Faulds, numerous nieces and nephews, two great-grandchildren, and several great-nieces and nephews. Fran graduated from Immaculate High School in 1944 and attended Seattle University. She married Howard H. LePley in 1946 and worked for I.Magnin's and then as a medical transcriptionist for Children's Orthopedic Hospital before beginning her career with the Washington State Ferry system. She worked there for 24 years as a purchasing agent before retiring. In retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling, shopping, and the pursuit of all things social. Christened 'Betty Crocker LePley,' Fran did not enjoy cooking but could make fantastic desserts, and was known for her divinity and banana cream pies. Fran was charming and talkative; she was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. A great supporter of higher education, Fran encouraged her children and grandchildren in their academic pursuits. In her later years, Fran was a resident at East Hill Elder Care. Special thanks go to Daniela Abrudan and all of the staff there for their excellent care. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday April 28, 2011 at St. Stephen The Martyr Catholic Church in Renton, WA. Memorials can be made to Fulcrum Foundation.

Dear Shelia and Pat, I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Frances. Your mother has always been my favorite and I will never forget how kind and considerate she has always been toward me. I hate many wonderful memories of she and I shopping in Neiman Marcus in San Francisco, etc. Shelia, as you know she loved to shop. She was such a truly lovely lady and I know I will miss her. I know we have not kept in touch over the years, but you and your families have long been in my thoughts over the years. I am ever your loving cousin, Carol E. Owens (DeHart), (Margaret's daughter)
