Frances Jones Obituary

Frances Lutz JONES Of Shoreline, WA, passed away on February 19, 2007. She was born Frances Dean Lutz on February 28, 1919 in Seattle, Washington to Donald Haswell Lutz and Clara Dean Lutz. She grew up in Port Angeles, Washington, attended the University of Washington where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She taught elementary school in Seattle and on U.S. Air Force bases in England. She married Capt. Don Arden Jones, NOAA, on November 7, 1964 in Bothell and after a year they moved to Washington D.C. Retirement brought them back to Washington State in 1972 where they resided at Lake Crescent before settling in Shoreline. They traveled extensively around the world before and after retirement. Frances enjoyed playing bridge and socializing with her friends as well as crocheting dozens of afghan quilts which she gave to her relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, RADM Don Arden Jones of Shoreline and her sister, Florence Lutz Nattinger of Port Angeles. She is survived by her brother-in-law, John A. Nattinger, her three nephews, Lawrence L. Stetson of Tacoma, John D. Stetson of Steilacoom and Kenyon L. Nattinger of Port Angeles and her three stepchildren, Alicia E. Boyd of Alexandria, VA, Radford W. Jones of Oakland, MI, and Donna L. Borkowski of Sterling VA. A Graveside Ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on February 28, at the family plot in Lake View Cemetery, Seattle. Donations may be made to Childrens Hospital in Seattle where Frances was a supporter and member of that Guild or to the Friends of Lake Crescent, which her late husband, Don, organized and then served as its first president.
