Haruo Kumakura Obituary

Haruo KUMAKURA On January 14, 2011 Haruo passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side at Franciscan Woods Hospice in Waukesha, WI. He was born on May 28, 1919 in Tacoma, WA to Kizo and Yae Kumakura. Haruo is preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry and sister Dorothy. Haruo graduated with honors from the University of Washington withB.A. degree in pharmacology. Shortly thereafter, he was interned in Minidoka, ID. He left Idaho in 1944 to serve in theU.S. military's occupation of Japan as a pharmacist. Haruo was honorably discharged in October 1946, and married Tokuko in August 1947. Upon returning to the US, Haruo continued his career with the VA in Wood, WI as the Assistant Chief Pharmacist, and retired in 1975 after 30 years of Army and VA service. He continued working for 20 years as a pharmacist at St. Josephs Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. Haruo is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Tokuko, daughter Terry, sister June (Shig) Momoda, and Misayo (Harry) Kumakura.
