What a dear, sweet, person of God. I am forever thankful for knowing Harvey and Wynell. He was the true essence of God in the flesh, giving hope and encouragement. Thank you, Lord, for the gift of Harvey Petersen in my life. Bless his wonderful family. They have touched my life deeply.
Comfort them and hold them close.

I will always remember Senior Breakfast on Friday morning at the Petersen's house during senior year of high school (1969- 1970). Allowing, and even encouraging, a bunch of teenagers to descend upon his home at 6:00 am takes a special person. And he was. Sleep well, my dear friend.

I will always remember the Senior Breakfasts that we had on Friday mornings at his house during senior year of high school (1969-1970). Putting up with, and even encouraging, a bunch of teenagers to descend upon your home at 6:00 in the morning takes a very special person. And he was. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

I'll remember Harvey as a devoted disciple of Christ, an effective and giving pastor -- but mostly I'll remember him as simply a very nice man! He is loved and will be missed by many.

“How do we spell Harvey?”
By Ray Moore

H stands for Harvey’s heart. Harvey had a loving heart that was compassionate and giving, because Christ was at home in Harvey’s heart. Jesus said…
“Love the lord your God with all your heart… and your neighbor as yourself.”
That is what Harvey did from the bottom of his heart. Harvey’s heart was humble, helpful, humorous, and Christ’s home. All those“h’s” stand for Harvey’s heart.
A stands for anchor, that’s what you hold on to or count on for security and stability.Harvey was our anchorman because Jesus was the anchor in Harvey’s life. You could count on Harvey to remain stable. He also was attentive, that’s another “A.” He was mindful and caring for the well being of others. Harvey was an
attentive anchor.
R stands for refreshingly reliable. He was both old school and new school, modern and historically rooted and reformed in his theology. Harvey was refreshingly reliable, rooted in scripture, and reformed in faith.
V stands for valuable. Harvey was precious, in God’s eyes and ours. He was the pearl of great price, the treasure who made everyone else feel valuable too.
E stands for earnest, excellence, and now eternally home. He worked hard because he was earnest. He did his work with excellence because he wanted to bring glory to God. He is eternally home with Jesus because of our Lord’s amazing
grace.
Y stands for yielded in Christ, yoked with Christ, and to Wynell, ‘your husband.’ To his children, ‘your father.’ And to his extended family ‘your grandfather,’
to all of us, ‘your friend, your pastor.’ All those “y’s” conclude Harvey’s name. Yielded in Christ, yoked with Christ, and to all of us, your brother in Christ. That’s how we spell “Harvey.”

I think I was about 9 or 10 yrs old when i new Rev. Harvey Petersen. He tuched my little heart back then and His love and care shaped my heart toward the Lord. He would take me by the hand and look at me and tell me how much He and Jesus loved me. I will Teasure those moments in my heart. May the Lord be with His family at this time. He will be deeply missed. Julie Hurmence.

I was very fond of Pastor Harvey as a teenager back in the mid 1970's at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church in Spokane, WA. He was one of a kind.
