Heidi Kirsten Coebergh Obituary
Heidi Kirsten Coebergh

After a courageous three year battle with ovarian cancer, Heidi passed away on April 28, 2017 in Seattle in the arms of her loving family at age 43.

Heidi entered this world at Swedish Hospital on April 25, 1974 with a smile on her face. From an early age Heidi developed a deep passion for teaching. At age five she started teaching her stuffed animals, keeping files on them and even holding parent teacher conferences with their stuffed animal parents.

Heidi graduated from the Bush School in Seattle, and went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Santa Clara University. She earned her Master's degree in Teaching from Seattle University.

Heidi's distinguished teaching career spanned nearly two decades. Heidi was a Nationally Board Certified Teacher, served as a union representative and ran a popular math club program. She loved her students like they were her own children and poured her heart and soul into helping every single child reach their full potential.

Heidi served as an advocate for ovarian cancer research and prevention through her support of the Rivkin Center. In November 2016, the Rivkin Center awarded her the Courage of Life Award for her profound passion for life, generosity to others, and important contributions.

Heidi will be remembered as a happy, sweet, caring, loving, brave, intelligent and determined woman who was the light of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who she touched.

Heidi is survived by her husband Paul, mother Ann, brother Eric, sister-in-law Courtney, nephews Lucas and Noah, mother-in-law Karin, father-in-law Max, sister-in-law Annemarie, Aunt Julie, cousins Ben and Josh, numerous other family members, friends, colleagues, students, caregivers and pug puppy Penelope who gave her so much joy.

Memorial services will be held at

the Seattle First Baptist Church

(1111 Harvard Avenue) on

Saturday, May 20th at 2:00 PM
