Hilda M. Krahn|
Long time Ballard resident Hilda M. Krahn passed away on September 13, 2013. She was born in Ballard on November 27, 1910. Her parents were both from Finland. She spent her youth in Kirkland and graduated from Lake Washington High School. She was valedictorian of her class of 1927 and went on to Business school. She worked and traveled until marriage. She married Alfred, (Bud) Krahn on October 16, 1937. She moved back to Ballard in 1951 and remained there till 2006. She worked for Seattle Public Schools as Ballard High School secretary from 1952 till retirement.
Hilda and Bud enjoyed golf and hiking in the Olympic mountains.
She was a leader in many professional organizations. She was most active in Washington Association of Educational Office Professionals (WAEOP) and Vasa Hope Lodge.
She was predeceased in death by her parents Gust & Hilda Wilson, brothers Eino and William and her beloved husband Bud Krahn.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews; her brother in law Stan Krahn, and dear friend Irene Mason; her children Ted Krahn and Lorene; her daughter Charlotte and Jack Tait; her grandchildren Andy Krahn and Rhonda, Ben Krahn and Cara, Gunnar Tait and Susan, Shannon Tait Brester and Mike; seven great-grandchildren Koll, Beau, Jayna, Nelson, Emma, Jackson and Lena.
The family would like to send special thanks to Adina, Jenelle, Tina and family for their love and care of Hilda.
She took with her many memories that still needed sharing and her passion for living will be missed.
