Hubert Manual Sims Sr. (CWO3 RET)|
Chief Warrant Officer (Ret) Hubert (Hugh) M. Sims passed on November 13, 2012.
Born June 21, 1920 he grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was raised by his mother, grandparents and uncles. Their guidance established the foundation for his strong work ethic and commitment to family values.
His passing leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years Geneva Loretta Sims; daughter Sandra Emily Cook(Marquette); sons Hubert JR.(Rebecca), Reginald, and Christopher.
Hugh completed active duty service for his country from 1941 to 1961 serving during WWII in the Pacific Rim thereafter serving in Australia, the Philippines and the Korean conflict. He continued service for an additional 30 years as a civilian specialist with the Army training troops and personnel in the use and maintenance of heavy equipment, completing three tours in Vietnam and multiple deployments through-out Europe.
He served as an example and mentor to youth throughout his travels earning the honor of 33rd Degree with the Prince Hall Masons in 1981.
Hubert is also survived by his beloved sister, Reecy Hightower, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 26th at 1:30 PM at Howden - Kennedy Funeral Home of West Seattle, 3909 SW Alaska Street, Seattle, WA 98116. Flowers and remembrances can be made to the same location.
