Hugh Langlow Obituary

Hugh (Hughy) Ward LANGLOW Age 73, passed into the arms of Jesus at home on 04/03/11 after a short struggle with brain cancer. Our cherished Hughy was born on 03/16/ 38 in Tacoma, WA. After his 1957 graduation from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, he entered the Coast Guard with his twin brother Eric and served for 10 years. After his stint with the Coast Guard, he worked at as a Seattle Transit bus driver where his amazing ability to remember long bus routes after the first time served him well. After 1 ½ years, he obtained a job with the Port of Seat tle at the locale of Shilshole Marina in Ballard. He then retired after 34 years with the Port of Seattle. Dearest to his heart was his time spent with the Seattle Fire Buffs which is a volunteer outfit that tends to firefighters' needs during fires. Their needs ranged from fluids to a kind word. He gave of himself freely and often rousted himself out of bed at 3 or 4 AM to drive to fires frequent ly with rain and/or snow accompany ing the trip. He was awarded several plaques for his faithful service to the fire depart ments. Hughy was active in Esperance Bap tist Church in Edmonds, WA. Serv ing as an usher and as a leader in the church's Awana children's program . He was fond of Southern Gospel music and came to the church's music jambo rees. His children remember that he liked to keep up on current events and his choice of media was TV or the Seat tle Times. His daughter-in-law fond ly reminds us that he enjoyed read ing the funnies and say he was get ting 'edumacated' a euphemism for educated. He was preceded in death of his twin brother Eric, his son Dennis and his great nephew Richard. He leaves be hind his wife Jeanine of 42 years, two sons Norman and Jerry, a stepson Allen and his grandson Gared along with several nieces and nephews. Our Celebration of Life service will be held at Esperance Baptist Church in Edmonds, WA on Saturday, April 09, 2011 at one PM.
