Dear Mary, Meg, Molly, Jim and Dan, I just returned from being gone several weeks and received this very sad news. I have the fondest memories of both Jim and Sheila. Sheila was one of my best friends. On my last visit to their home in Colby, Jim was our chef, cook and bottle washer. We did nothing but visit and eat Jim's wonderful meals. It was always such a pleasure to visit them. I will miss them both so very much but always treasure the memories I have of them.

I will miss Jim as I do Sheila. They were the best joke/story tellers at the dinner parties. I also loved how they interacted with each other. Kindness is what I'll remember most about them.

I was a classmate of Jim's in the famed "Class of 59" of the Gonzaga Law School. Jim was one of the brightest stars in that shining galaxy. I was most happy to see him, and my other classmates, at our 50th law school reunion. Jim was a nice guy. There's no denying that. Phil Raekes, Benton County Superior Court Judge (Retd)

Alaska loses another one of the quality individuals who made the State what it is today. Where oh where would poor Alaska be if there had not been men like Jim Nordale and others like him.
They were there when Alaska needed them most and Jim Nordale was among the best.

I am deeply sorrowed by the passing of Jim. My condolences to his family. I have known Jim for fifty years as a friend, attorney and Alaskan. He and I had many ties and experieces since he was from Fairbanks and I had lived there for many years. We had many conversations about Alaska and Alaska government. Jim was a great source of Alaska history. For example, after the '57 Fairbanks flood that received great attention Jim remembered as a child standing on the steps of his house amidst several feet of water from a flood that received no attention and government assistance. Jim and I had worked together as attorneys for Anchorage. Jim was always a friend and willing to be of whatever help you needed. He had a good sense of humor. We had many friends in common. I have always intended to see Jim when in Seattle because we had not seen each other for twenty years because we lived in different cities, but that will no longer happen.. I will always have fond memories of Jim. He was a great, warm and genuine person to have known.

Meg, Molly, Jim and Dan - Your Dad will be sorely missed, as is your Mom. I have such fond memories of holidays and other fun times as a child with you all in Soldotna, particularly Easter. We were all so lucky to have Jim and Sheila in our lives. My best thoughts to you and your families.

The world is a poorer place with Jim's passing, just as it diminished with Sheila's passing. They enriched the lives of all of us who knew them, and made the 'great frontier' a wonderful place to raise our family.

I was very saddened to learn of Jim's death. Jim and Sheila Nordale and their family were a large part of our family's life in Alaska for many years. It is a great loss for us and I send my deepest sympathy to their children who are all a credit to their mom and dad.
