James Floyd McQueen

James Floyd McQUEEN Our beloved husband, father and grandfather left us on January 22, 2009, after a long, brave battle with heart disease. Jim was born March 18, 1938, in Larimore, ND, to Avery and Dorothy McQueen. He attended Ballard HS before graduating from the UW. He taught History for many years at Roosevelt HS. Jim was a devoted father to his daughter, Julie, and found new meaning in the world with the birth of his grandchildren. Jim made being a grandfather his full time job. He was there for everything, and his grandchildren always knew that Grandpa was their biggest fan. Missing Jim are his wife of 48 years, Halley McQueen, his daughter Julie Tarr (John) of Everett, grandchildren Brian, Alex and Kelsey Tarr; his brother Dale McQueen (Carol) of Aberdeen, sisters Glenna Rainey of Edmonds and Elva Viken of Beltrami, MN, and dear friend Paula Peterson of Kirkland. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and many lifelong friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Fishbien and the staff at UWMC. We will celebrate Jim's life on Saturday February 7, at 11 a.m., Saint Alban's Episcopal Church, 21405 82nd PL W, Edmonds.
