Dr. James Louis Linker

Dr. James Louis Linker, 79,

of Sumner passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2013. He was born on Jan. 17, 1934 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to Harry and Wilhelmina (Kinkel) Linker. He graduated from Ft. Morgan High School before obtaining a BA an MA from the University Northern College in Greeley and an Ed.D from the University of Wyoming. Following military service, he worked as a school administrator in Colorado and Wyoming. In 1968 he moved to Washington and worked first at Washington State University as an Associate Professor and then as Principal at Thomas Jefferson High School in Federal Way and other Federal Way schools.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Suzanne Linker; sons, Michael (Shannon) Linker and Sam Kinkel; daughters, Janet Linker (Carl) Nahpi, Elizabeth (Bruce) Geppert, Carla (Gary) Lukenbill. His many grandchildren are Abby Linker (Marco) Quinto, Allison and Averee Linker, Sarah, Jackson, and Amanda Nahpi, Andrew (Rayla) Geppert , Tony Geppert, Emily Cotter, Brian Lukenbill, and Jacob, Bailey and Justin Kinkel. Great grand children are Hayden and Miles James Quinto, and Makayla and Alayna Nahpi. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Myra Anne Reichers, and his brother Bill Linker. His greatest joy was his family, and he vigorously supported their many activities. There will be a Celebration of His Life on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 1:00 at Powers Funeral Home in Sumner. Memorials may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army.
