Jean Mathias Obituary

Jean C. (Sperb) MATHIAS Wife of the late William N. Mathias, passed away May 17, 2011 after a long decline. She was born to John Joseph Sperb and Bertha Sperb (Fessant) August 23, 1920 in Ocean Falls, British Columbia and was raised in Sumner, WA. She leaves 8 children and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She and Bill were married December 4, 1942 just prior to Bill being shipped out to serve in World War II. Upon his return, they lived in Alaska, and then Seattle. The family remembers fondly Mother's wine making skills and are proud of her accomplishments including a college degree from Shoreline Community College. Jean enjoyed a long and successful career in Real Estate sales. After retirement she enjoyed travel and was strongly committed to feeding the hungry at the Sacred Heart Shelter in Seattle. Survivors are her brother John Sperb, sister Louise Dwyer, and children Nick (Sonia), Stephen (Patricia), Christopher (Ken Turino), Patrick (Linda), Daniel (Debe), Peggy Hoffer (Patrick), Karen Sample, and Kathy Boag (Randy). Memorial mass Friday, June 10th, at 11AM at St Thomas More Catholic Church, Lynnwood, Wa. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Sacred Heart Shelter, 232 Warren Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98109.
