Joelle THOMASSEN September 2, 1932 ~ May 18, 2012 Our beloved and brave Joelle passed away peacefully at Swedish Medical Center surrounded in love by her family, friends and treasured doctors and nurses. Cancer took her swiftly and unexpectedly. Born in Cushing, Iowa and raised in Seattle. Graduated from Cleveland HS in 1949. Attended UW earning her degree in Science. She trained to be a registered nurse at Swedish Hospital, graduating in the class of 1954. Worked as a Nurse Stewardess for the Northern Pacific Railway. She enjoyed homemaking and raising her family. Her rather distinct voice will be missed greatly coming from the bleachers at all the various sporting events she never missed!She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of watching sports and her devotion to her family and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Alvin Zabel and nephew Randy Gailey. She leaves behind her beloved husband and soulmate of 57 years, Norman; daughter Cheryl Behrens (Bob); son Scott (Heidi); grandchildren Katie, Hailey, Sara & Aaron; dear sisters Pat Towle and Marylee Marshall and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be deeply and profoundly missed. Our family wants to thank her physicians and the kind nurses of 12E and Dr Fitzharris's office for their loving care. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 3:00 at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church. Donations can be made to Swedish Cancer Institute or
