John A. Rankin Obituary
John A. Rankin

John Rankin died on 11/26/12 at age 52 after a 2 year battle with a rare form of cancer. During his illness, he never lost his incredible wit or sense of humor, and amazingly never complained despite the pain.

He was born and raised in Van Nuys, California. He loved the ocean, and being a natural athlete he enjoyed bodysurfing and other sports with his friends on the CA beaches.

In the early '90's he moved to the PNW and fell in love with Seattle, where he spent the rest of his life. Seattle fell in love with John as well, and there are countless close friends and loved ones here who are deeply saddened with his passing.

John was the best audience anyone could ever want. He laughed loudly and had a way of making everyone feel at ease. He had confidence and a lovable arrogance and charisma that drew people to him.

He had a gift for words and had an intense love of good film, music and writing. Given more time, his friends are convinced he would have been a great novelist. He also had a wonderful singing voice, which he didn't mind sharing with others.

John leaves behind many friends all over the country who feel lucky to have known him and will miss him forever.
