I am so saddened to hear of John's passing. I had the opportunity to know him for the last dozen years through ice skating. He was so kind, fun and just a great person to know. I appreciate the time I was able to know him... even skated on the adult team with him. Praying for your family.

My heart is deeply grieved to hear of John's passing. I knew him from Ice Time when I was a coach there. He was such a gentle soul, an absolute pleasure to be around, always brings smiles to people's faces, a genuine angel on this Earth. What a pleasure it was to know him and I pray his family is comforted during this difficult time. Warmly, Jen Milano (Pittsboro, NC)

I was just thinking fondly of John a few days ago and how his kind and gentle smile helped me start my musical journey. When I was a timid teenager playing guitar for the first time with a group of seasoned musicians, John coaxed me into singing a duet with him (a Beatles song), and I remember how wonderful it felt to play with another musician, and not at all scary, as I had imagined it would be! I think of that moment of joy often, every time I am nervous about playing with people who I find intimidating. I have a performance tonight that I have been nervous about for days, and that's why I've been thinking of John a lot lately. Tonight I will sing and play with all my heart, in memory of his gentle, smiling spirit.

Dear Ann and family, I was stunned and saddened to hear of John's passing. Many great stories of John have come to mind today. Please allow me to share my favorite. One day a number of musicians met to practice for a coffeehouse gig at our friend's house. John had never been there before and was last to arrive. The 2 cats of the house were very shy, especially around crowds, and it was particularly crowded that day. Yet as soon as John sat down, the cats appeared from nowhere. One jumped on his lap, and the other curled around his leg. They never met John before, they hadn't even poked their heads out for any of the rest of us... but they knew John immediately. And they were right. We were all nice enough, but John was something way above that, and the cats just knew. Of course he had that magic with people too, and I consider myself very blessed to have known him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dear Mrs. Christopher-
I was deeply saddened to learn today of John's passing. His coach, Missy, told me when came to the rink today. He was an inspiration to all of us adult skaters and he will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
