John I think of you often I miss your funny jokes and your loving and smiling nature. You always took the time to listen to me even when I was a child you told me when you were going to propose to Judy and made me feel special. Thanks for being you. Love you and miss you.

What a privilege it was to know such a wonderful man. We are so sorry to currently be in Florida and unable to honor John at his rosary and mass. We will always cherish the memories of our ski trips where we got to enjoy his sense of humor and kindness. We took some great runs together. Please know our hearts are with you and your family, Judy. God bless.

To Judy and the Merlino family,
We are truly saddened by the loss of John. He always had a ready smile and a very obvious love for his family and friends. (He also was a lot of fun to ski with......) We will miss him!

John was a very dear cousin. From the time I was a little girl he took the time to sit and talk about what was going on in my life as well as telling me about his, even though I was younger.

He sat me down and talked to me about how he met the girl he was going to marry...I was a little girl at the time, but i will never forget the joy in his eyes and the fact that he was sharing such a beautiful moment with me. He even brought Judy around for us all to meet..

.He was not only family but a friend. We didn't see each other a lot when we all grew up, but the time we did was very special..

He was so full of love and caring for others it showed in everything he said and did. When we were kids, he treated my other cousins and his sister and my brothers very special. He always had such a great sense of humor,

My heart grieves for the loss of him. I will miss his stories so very much..

My heart and prayers go out to all the family...I too lost my father 10 years ago and know how nothing but time can heal the pain of losing someone you love so dearly

He will be missed by everyone who knew him..

God Bless you all,
Marjorie Merlino Gambrel

We are so sorry to hear of Johns' early entry to Heaven. We've of course had you in our hearts and thoughts ever since we heard of the ALS. John would come down with Jerry to have lunch and I've certainly missed those drop in days! He was just a smiling, happy and kind man, and you were blessed to have him. Love, hugs and prayers, Lisa & Joe Brandmeier

Great men are too few and far between. It is clear that John was one of those men. I feel fortunate to have met him. Know that he continues to touch and influence lives today, and in the years to come, every time someone comes in contact with his family. His life set the bar for what it means to be a great person in all the ways that matter. His children and grandchildren have learned the lesson. The baton was successfully passed. Well done John!
