John Furugori Obituary

John T. FURUGORI John Tatsumi "Tats" Furugori, 81, died May 2, 2011 at his homein Seattle. Tats was born onJune 9, 1929 in Seattle. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1948 and attended the University of Washington. In March 1954,he married Esther Toshiko Hirabayashi. Tats will be remembered for his presence at Imperial Lanes, where he was a long-time league bowler, bowling league secretary and assistant manager until he retired in 1993. Tats is survived by his loving wife, Esther; daughters Kimberlee Furugori, Kristin (Tim) Sullivan, and Leanne Furugori; and grandsons Kerry and Brendan. A memorial service will be held on Sunday May 22, at 1:30 p.m.at Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church in Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 100 West Harrison Street, N200, Seattle, WA 98119; Blaine Memorial UMC, 3001 - 24th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98144; or Nikkei Horizons, 1601 E Yesler Way, Seattle, WA 98122-5640.

I miss his friendship but know he is in a better place.

I lived very close to Imperial Lanes and remembered "Tats" very well ... always treated me very well -- bowling tips helped too. My deepest sympathies to the family.
