Joyce Kiyoko Kikuchi|
Joyce was born in Seattle, Washington on December 28, 1954 to Marian and Isamu Kikuchi, the youngest of four children.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1974. Joyce received a BS degree in Medical Technology from the U of W in 1977, and from Seattle University a BA in Business Administration with a major in Finance in August, 1987 and MBA in March, 1991. Joyce's career began at the Eastside Medical Lab in Bellevue from 1977-1979, and completed at Group Health Cooperative from 1979-2011.
Love of travel took Joyce to Europe, China, and various parts of the United States. She loved photography, and attending arts and crafts fairs, shows and concerts.
One of Joyce's passion was the fight against cancer. She participated annually with her Group Health AMB Lab co-workers in the
's annual "
" event until her health no longer permitted her to participate.
Her strong will to live, living each moment to its fullest, brought admiration from family, friends, doctors, and the medical staff who cared for her at Overlake Hospital and the Marianwood hospice facility.
Joyce passed away peacefully in her sleep at Marianwood on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2012 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her father Isamu Kikuchi, and survived by her mother, Marian Kikuchi, brothers Frank Kikuchi, George (Brenda) Kikuchi, Jim (Matsue) Kikuchi, nephew Marc (Petra) Kikuchi, niece Jennifer Kikuchi, and nephew Michael Kikuchi.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Evergreen-Washelli, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133, on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00PM.
