Juanita M. Berry Obituary
Juanita M. Berry

Our beloved Tita Marie passed away December 3, 2012 at Royal Park, in Spokane, WA. She made a valiant effort to stay with us but finally accepted peace and joined her husband and best friend, Edward Berry. Juanita (Maryott) Berry was born on the family farm near Palouse, WA on August 11, 1926. She learned two important things on the farm - how to work hard and how to be a die-hard WSU Cougar Fan! She graduated from Palouse High School and began her career at the Old National Bank in Palouse. She later worked at SeaFirst Bank in Eastgate and retired in 1983. She was a life-long member of the American Legion joining in June of 1945 and met her future husband at a Legion convention in 1958. They were married in Palouse and then moved to Eastgate where she lived until her passing. Juanita was a dedicated, caring volunteer at the Seattle Veteran's Hospital for over 40 years. She served as American Legion Western Div. National President (1992-93), Dept President (1982-83), and chairman of many committees at the State/District level. She belonged to Post 99. She served as First Chapeau. She dedicated her life to service. She loved her husband, her family and her country. She is survived by a sister, Isla Thompson, nieces - Linda Thompson, Susan Thompson, Jamie Maryott and Nancy Maryott-Capaul, nephews - Dana and Glenn Maryott - great nephew and caregiver, Jason Capaul, great nephew and guardian, Thomas Capaul. Interment next to her husband is planned for April at Tahoma Cemetery, Kent WA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Parkinson Disease Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
