Judy Meyer

Judy MEYER Judy Meyer was a wonderful person to know.Her sparkling sense of humor and quick wit made everyone around her feel at home. She was a loving and involved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Judy's beautiful spirit went to heav en on January 5th 2011. Judy was born January 26,1918 in Akron, Iowa to Ewald and Susan Fleskes. The family moved to Maple River, Iowa and remained there until Judy's adventuresome spirit brought her to Seattle in 1937. She met and married the love of her life, Alvin Meyer in 1938 and after his return from World War II they set tled in West Seattle to raise their family. Judy was very active and devoted to her beloved Holy Rosary Parish, and over the years served on many committees. Her various activ ities included altar cleaning, ironing altar cloths, Mother's Club, Girl Scouts and whatever else came along. Her deep faith sustained her through out her life. In 1970, Judy returned to school, received her LPN license and went to work for Providence Hospital for several years until she decided it would be more fun to be a full time Grandma. Judy and Al loved Alki Beach and in the 70's discovered Hawaii. They vacationed there every year, some times twice, for more beach time. They also spent many happy hours in search of weekly rummage sales, delighting all with their treasures, an activity they continued until Al's death in 2000. Judy lived her remain ing years with her daughter Mindy. She died peacefully at Booker Rest Home in Dayton, Washington. Judy will be remembered lovingly by her daughter Mindy Meyer Betzler (Don), son Dan Meyer. Grandchildren Krista Betzler Stroble (Russ), Robbie Betzler (Mindy), Jeff Betzler, Michelle Gibson Samzyck (Konrad). Great-grandchildren Max and Zach Stroble, Brock, Maya, Brixen and Tazie Betzler. We miss you "Grandma Judy". Memorial Mas will be held January 21st, 10:30 AM at Holy Rosary Chap el in West Seattle. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Holy Rosary Church.
