Katherine J. Beebe

Katherine J. BEEBE Age 78. Born July 2, 1932; died February 19, 2011 after a long battle with cancer. Born and lived most of her life in Seattle, she moved to LaConner, WA twelve years ago. Raised in foster care from age 2, she overcame many obstacles on life's journey. Because of her wonderful intellect, her love of learning and her sheer determination, she graduated the University of Washington in 1967 with a degree in English Literature. She was passionate about her friends, her pets, poetry, politics, and nature. She loved to read, run, bike and hike the Cascades. Along the way, she created her own "family" of friends, including her Godson, Lee. Always the champion of the underdog, she chose to work with abused children, drug addicts and convicted felons in her many careers. A favorite poem by Emily Dickenson befits her: "This is my letter to the World That never wrote to Me- The simple News that Nature told- With Tender Majesty. Her message is committed To Hands I cannot see- For love of Her - Sweet - countrymen Judge tenderly - of Me" Farewell, dear friend. You are in God's pocket now.
