Laurie Bashour Obituary

Laurie Jean BASHOUR (Vanderhyde) Age 67, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2011 surrounded by her fami ly. Born and raised in Snohomish, she graduated from high school in 1962 and attended Willamette Uni versity. In 1972, she married Louis Bashour and they raised three chil dren, living in Everett, Seattle and Bothell, until she became a single mother when he passed away in 1988. Laurie loved music and for many years played her fiddle in an Irish folk band called Fat Chance. Later, she enjoyed caring for her grandchil dren, baking, quilting, and visiting with friends. Laurie was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend who left us too soon. Among the many things we will miss are her phone calls, the little gifts she would give, the treats she baked and the warmth and humor she so generous ly shared. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church in Kirkland at 2 pm on Sun day, June 12, 2011.

Laurie was like a second mom to me also. I think I spent more time in M-101 than at my own house. The fact that she put up with Louie and my shenanigans through the years automatically makes her one of the strongest moms ever. She will be missed, and so will her world famous cackle! I will always remember when she nicknamed me "Mattalink". I don't know how she thought of it, but I'll always be proud of it. Thanks for the memories Laurie!---Matt, Tina, and all of the Haas family.

To Laurie's family: I'm so sorry that your mother is gone so soon. I remember long phone calls in high school. We reconnected a few years ago and started having long calls again. Some things never change and that is a delight. Life wasn't always easy for Laurie but her love for her family was always strong. I loved her.

To my cousins I love so much and my Aunt Laurie who's smile and cackling laugh will be missed so much. Your music, your smile, the way you could find happiness even in the toughest times...and the incredible legacy you leave in your beautiful children and the hearts they each have. To Lauries" children Ann and Ken and grandchildren. I was so sorry to read that Laurie had passed away. I also will always have very fond memories of Laurie.We played the violin together for many many years under the direction of Gene Nastri. I think I knew Laurie my entire life as my parents were friends of Lauries Parents and we spent a lot of time together. Over the last 12 years we have had wonderful luncheons together with some of our school Girlfriends.
