Lorraine Crossett Obituary

Lorraine June Crossett

Lorraine June Crossett was born June 15, 1931 in Chicago, and moved to Lake Forest Park with her family after World War II. She described the Pacific Northwest as "living in a dream." Her father purchased acreage, and they had a small farm where she began her lifelong love of gardening. Lorraine met her husband Tom at University Presbyterian Church, and they married there in 1956. In addition to managing their busy household, she and Tom had a small Scottish Woolens shop in Firdale Village. Lorraine loved quilting, bird-watching, and traveling with her family, especially the camping adventures at Mount Rainier and Canadian Rockies with her children. Although she and Tom enjoyed traveling abroad after his retirement, the place she was the happiest was the family log cabin on Skunk Bay.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Tom and their infant daughter Rose Marie. She is survived by her children; Michael (Signe), David (Tracy), Katherine (Roy) Montalvo, and Julie (Jay) Ruopp, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous treasured extended family and friends.

Lorraine will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her great faith in her Lord, her strength and her indomitable spirit. God called her to her Heavenly Home September 17, 2018.

The family would like to thank her loving caregivers at Crista Senior Living in Shoreline, and also her dear friend and caregiver Josie Rittenhouse for her tender devotion in her final years.

To the Michael, David, Katherine and Julie along with their families,
Your Mom's (and Dad) friendship with my parents', Vern and Marian Powell, and our entire family has been precious and so long lasting. Your parents were extended family, like an Aunt and Uncle, to me and it was always a welcomed event when we heard that we would be joining the Crossetts for a meal in Ballard or a visit to your cabin! Those are memories that I will cherish forever. I was hoping to make it to the memorial service to represent our family but at this time I don't think my health will allow for the trip. Since I may not see you all in person, I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you, day by day, process through the loss of your Mom! Psalm 30:5 "Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning." This is the promise that as you mourn your Mom, eventually the knowledge, that your Mom is with her Lord, will bring joy that is greater than the tears! May God Bless you all. Alice Villasenor (Powell)
