Louise Edmundson Obituary

Louise S. EDMUNDSON 1906 ~ 2011 Louise Edmundson was born in Everett, WA June 14, 1906. The daughter of Thomas and Anne Raymond Stiger. She attended Western Washington, Whitman and Berkley University; specializing in Kindergarten and primary teaching. In 1928 she began her teaching career in Snohomish, then Everett and Seattle Public Schools. She was a talented musician and spent a great deal of her time signing and accompanying violinists and soloists. She was married in 1934 to Rolland Graham and they moved to Seattle where both were active in the Queen Anne Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ladies Musical, accompanist for Clarion Male Chorus. During World War II she was a part of a chorus that led singing at USO. Rolland died in 1957. In 1960 she married Otis Steensland. She was in charge of the Kindergarten program the last five years of her teaching - retiring after almost forty years. With her husband they retired to an Orcas Island home they had built. They were active in the Episcopal church. Otis died in 1988. In 1989 Louise returned to Seattle and took up residence at Horizon House. In 1989 she married Dean Edmundson who had been her 1927 college sweet heart. Both were involved in all of the activities at Horizon House. Dean died in 2003. Louise was a volunteer pianist in the Health Center up to the week she died. Playing Bridge was the passion of her life - she played up to 36 hours before her death. A service of celebration of her life is on Sunday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. (Daylight Savings Time) at Horizon House, 900 University St., Seattle. Free parking.
