Lucille Currie Obituary

Lucille CURRIE Lucille Currie died peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2011. Lucille was born on July 30, 1925, in Wenatchee, Washington, where she lived until she moved to Cashmere during her sophomore year of high school. After graduation, Lucille entered Western Washington College, where she was a student until she joined the WAVES (Navy). When Lucille's service ended in 1946, she enrolled at the University of Washington, earning a degree in Sociology and reconnecting with her high school classmate, Bill Currie. Bill and Lucille married in 1947 and had two children, Laurel and Stuart. While the children were young, Lucille was an active volunteer in their schools, was a Girl Scout Leader, and was a volunteer for the Burke Museum. When the children were older, Lucille returned to the University of Washington and earned a degree in Education and began teaching ESL for the Shoreline public schools. In their retirement, Lucille and Bill enjoyed sailing and travel, both in the US and in Europe. Lucille is survived by her husband, Bill; her sister, Betty; her daughter Laurel and Laurel's husband, Terry; her son Stuart and Stuart's wife, Angela; and her grandchildren Julia, BreeAnn, Cameron, Michael, Lauren, Jessie, Kit, and Charlie.
