Lynn Andrea Norton Obituary
Lynn Andrea Norton

Lynn, age 71, left this life early on May 16, 2018, in Burien, WA after a long battle with complications from Lupus.

Born in Evanston, Illinois on October 12, 1946 to Warren and Gertrude Norton, Lynn lead an amazing life of adventure. From traveling the world with her friends and family (Europe, Tahiti, Bahamas and more) to living her life around horses.

When we say living her life around horses, we are not kidding... Brownie, in the garage of her house in Evanston instead of a bike as a kid. As a teen, leaving for a month at a Montana Horse Ranch and never wanting to return. Then to owning her dream ranch in Illinois and nice retirement ranch in Washington. She was so involved with horses, she even sold horse equipment as her favorite past time.

Her life was plagued by very destructive disease starting around 50 years old when she was diagnosed with Cancer, just as she left Illinois for Arizona with two horses. Forced to move in with my brother, Geoff, for treatment, she had to travel from Nevada to Arizona to care for horses often. It was during that time she met the love of her life, Albert Tootell. Their love broke all bonds of cancer--she was free--until Lupus.

With Lupus, her brain, lungs, blood, hands, vision were all destroyed or nearly so. Each time, we prepared for the worst, but she would climb out of it like summiting Everest saying it was time to ride.

Lynn enjoyed the ride to the very last moment when she could be with those who loved her most --

God and Family. In the end, she did beat the disease. She chose to say good bye to it vs. it taking her away from us.

For the first time ever in a long history of loss, we experienced love, joy, acceptance as a part of a life cycle. We know now that she has joined those she loved so much while she was here on Earth.

Lynn is survived by her son, Geoff Combs, and daughter, Debbie (Combs) Goodrich, grandson Rory Goodrich and oldest sister Rae Ford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband and father of her two children, John David Combs, her longtime partner, Albert Tootell, and her middle sister Susan (Norton) Rumpf.

June 30 and July 1st, the family will be celebrating Lynn's life. For details, contact

The family requests donations to be sent to the LUPUS FOUNDATION.
